ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

Sustainability and social responsibility are an integral part of HH Simonsen. We feel that we have an obligation to think and act in an environmentally and socially responsible way – both in a global and a local perspective.

WE SET THE STANDARD ]

When it comes to the production of our products, we only do business with companies who work hard to refine and improve their production methods and do the least possible harm on the environment. All our partners around the world should also respect both human rights and provide acceptable working conditions for their employees.

[ GOING GREEN ]

At HH Simonsen we are mindful of and sensitive to the environment and thinking green has become a natural part of the way we do business. We strive to reduce the use of materials that are environmentally harmful; for instance, we now use only sustainable, non-toxic and biodegradable bags for our products.

Our most recent initiative has been to change the surface on a range of our standard styling tools. They now feature an exclusive matte finish, which is already a part of the design, while we have eliminated the use of lacquer and color pigments in the finishing of these products. This doesn’t just affect our environment in the production of the tools, but also when it, after years of use, will be recycled.

[ SUSTAINABLE FACTS ]

Our shampoos and styling products contain 15-20% less water than competing brands, meaning that a 250 ml HH Simonsen bottle contains the same amount of uses as a regular 350 ml bottle. This saves both on water, as well as the amount of plastic and paper needed to package our products.

HH Simonsen’s styling tools are all packaged in an environmentally friendly and reusable cardboard. We’ve stopped using silver and gold foils, as well as magnets, so that they are easy to recycle, and reduced our use of paper for instructions by 40%.

All our products are packaged in square boxes to avoid wasting space when shipping our products to salons and private customers.

Our electric tools have a low energy use, easing both our environment, and your electrical bill.

Our brushes are created using certified wood or ABS plastic, which is more durable than regular plastic. All our brushes are packed in environmentally friendly PET-plastic.

Every year, we collect used tools and scissors, and donate them to hairdressing schools in Africa, to avoid waste and lend a helping hand in less fortunate areas.

[ MEMBER OF THE ELRETUR ASSOCIATION ]

Elretur is a private association established in 2005 by various industry associations for electrical and electronic equipment in Denmark to increase responsibility for the environment. The purpose of Elretur is to act under Danish legislation on producer responsibility by managing member companies’ interests and obligations, not least managing the collection and reprocessing of end-of-life products. Elretur works on a non-profit basis for its members and has no financial interests in its own right. The objective of Elretur is to ensure that member companies feel the least possible burdens from the producer responsibility scheme, both in terms of costs and administration – without compromising our common environmental responsibility.
